Dear Archbishop Sean,

I am writing in support of the movement to reconsider the closing of Sacred Heart Church in Lexington.  I have been a parishioner here since I moved to Lexington 15 years ago.  I have never attended a parish which is as vibrant, welcoming and involved as Sacred Heart.  I have served on the parish council and been involved in teaching in the CCD program beginning with pre-schoolers up through this year's confirmation class.

Sacred Heart has a truly unique spirit about it.  Father Colletti and his staff have provided great leadership and encouraged an atmosphere where parishioners are actively involved in all aspects of parish life; the most notable thing about our community is how serious and passionate people are about their faith, and it shows in the inspired liturgies, the support for community and social involvement, and the ability to attract new and diverse members.  My three daughters are now teenagers, and at times, their friends will attend Mass with my family.  One testament to the vibrancy of the parish is that based on their exposure to Sacred Heart, two of my daughters' teenage friends have asked if they could become Catholic.

I know that the closing of the parishes in the Archdiocese has been a painful and difficult process, but the closing of Sacred Heart would be particularly tragic.  I hope that this decision will be reconsidered.
