                                                RE: Sacred Heart Catholic Church

                                                       Lexington, MA.

Your Excellency:

We are joining in the Sacred Heart Community of Lexington, MA. in appealing the decision to close our parish.  While it is true that the church is the people and not any one church or building, the closing of Sacred Heart for our family would truly be a profound loss, and unnecessary closure.

By all reasonable standards our church participation in the Sunday liturgy, the sacraments and religious education as a percent of the total enrollment, is exceptionally high.  The sense of community and caring exceeds that of any other parish for which we have been a member over the past 4 decades. Through cancer, infertility and all crises, the support and caring has been unparalleled.  We are a growing, vital and remarkable parish community and we are certain that even with just one visit to any of our liturgies would demonstrate, this is a loving, supportive and self sufficient community that certainly should not have faced closure, taking into consideration, all reasonable criteria and factors.

We request that you at least keep an open mind and review your decision for closure of Sacred Heart, of Lexington, MA., and thank you in advance for your consideration, in this matter.  May God Bless and guide you. Thank you.
