NEW YAHOO
GROUP
New ! A
yahoo group has been created to replace the email distribution. Many service providers now limit the total
number of emails that can be sent out by a single account, to prevent
residential services from being used for spamming (sending large volumes of
unsolicited commercial email, advertisements, etc.). The group is called “sacredheartlex”,
and is presently not listed in the public directory, and requires an approval
step to join. Once you join, you can
send email to the entire distribution with a single email to sacredheartlex@yahoogroups.com.
There are two easy ways to join:
1)
Send an email to sacredheartlex2004@yahoo.com to
ask to join. This is easiest for people
not familiar with how groups and distribution lists work.
2)
Send an email to sacredheartlex-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
. You will get a quick reply that your
request has been received. When the
moderator of the group approves your membership, you will get another email
indicating that you have been approved and are now part of the group’s mailing
list.
You can “unsubscribe” from the mailings any time by sending an email to sacredheartlex-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com.
You do NOT have to create a yahoo identity (personal profile, etc.) on
Yahoo to use this distribution list.
How does this work ?
1)
When a member sends an
email to sacredheartlex@yahoogroups.com,
it is redistributed to all the other
members. It is a quick way to
distribute news to all the members of the group, and the number of emails is
not restricted as in a typical service provider.
2)
If you wish, you can
create a yahoo user profile and use other features of the group by logging in
to http://groups.yahoo.com – the
previous messages are there, a partly anonymized list
of members is listed, a calendar is available, as are means to share some files
among group members.
